RULES GOVERNING COUNTY PAIRS, TRIPLES, FOURS, TWO WOOD SINGLES, and CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS COMPETITIONS
The early rounds of the County Pairs, County Triples, County Two Wood Singles & County Fours, up to the Semi-Final & Finals, shall be played on a sector basis.
2. SECTOR ROUNDS & SECTOR RESULTS
a. The County Pairs, Triples and Fours start officially 5 weeks before the completion date of the first round of each separate competition. The challenger may arrange dates before the official start dates only if there is mutual agreement with her opponent regarding both date and time, and the County Competition Secretary has been informed of this agreement prior to the agreed play date.
There shall be no extensions to the published dates of the sector rounds for any reason, unless for exceptional circumstances which shall be ruled upon by the CCS.
The County Competition Secretary will appoint a Sector Organiser for each of the Sectors. The County is divided into the following Sectors:
South Sector - Plymouth, South Hams, Torbay, Torquay Utd
North Sector - Exonia, Isca, Kingsley, Mid Devon
Central Sector - Budleigh, Dawlish, Honiton, Madeira, Sidmouth
The Sector with the most entries in each competition will qualify for two teams to go forward to the County Semi-Finals.
b. Duties of the Sector Organiser:
The County Two Wood Unbadged Singles
· Book a green from within her Sector, on either a Saturday or a Sunday
(usually all day according to how many entries the Sector has.)
· Arrange an Umpire/Competent Person and Markers for the first
games. Losing Competitors should be prepared to mark the subsequent
games.
· Attend on the day, collect rink fees and organise play for the competition.
The CCS will send out an information sheet to all clubs for their noticeboards.
Entries should be made and paid for online
The CCS will organise the draws for each sector which will be on the website.
Play for the competition is 21 ends. Dead ends to be replayed.
The Organiser shall send the name and contact details of the winner of each Sector to the CCS with a copy of the drawsheet and final scorecard. Each Sector winner will be in the County Semi Finals/Final which will be played during the County Finals weekend. Dates for the Finals Weekend must be on the entry
form for this competition – players should not enter if they are not available for the Finals weekend.
The winner of the County Two Wood Singles will be awarded her County Badge at the beginning of the following Season.
c. County Champion of Champions. The competition is open to winners of their
Ladies Club Singles from the previous season. The free entry should be made by the Club with the other team competitions (Foxlands, Lane, Top Club). At the time of entry a copy of the Ladies Singles drawsheet and a copy of the scorecard for the Club Final should be emailed to the CCS. The CCS will organise the draw which will be on play by dates and will be on the website The Semi-Finals and Final of this competition will be played during the County Finals weekend – players should not enter if they are not available for this weekend.
All games to be played to 21 shots, dead ends to be replayed.
County competitions (Pairs, Triples and Fours)
· Sector Finals shall be arranged by the Sector Organiser on a neutral green, and the Sector Organiser will appoint an Umpire/Competent person for the games. All Sector Final games shall be played in full, with two trial ends permitted, and an extra end played if scores are tied. Sector Finals shall be completed by the date decided by the CCS.
· The Sector Organiser shall send the results of each Sector Final to the CCS by email with the name, telephone number and email address of the winner and a copy of the Final Scorecard.
Each Sector Final must be completed by the date decided by the CCS.
· Competitors who have entered a competition and are a named entrant cannot
afterwards play in another team in the same competition, irrespective of whether or not they have actually played in their original entry.
· Play in County Competitions to be a full game i.e. 18 ends for Pairs, Triples and Fours
Two trial ends are permitted.
· If scores are tied an extra end must be played to decide the game.
Dead ends to be replayed
· The challenger shall offer her opponent the choice of two dates (if requested by her opponent dates must be either a weekend or an evening), within not less than 14 days before the closing date of the first round, and thereafter within 5 days after the closing date of the previous round. Should the challenger fail to comply, the opponent becomes the challenger, and must inform the Competition Secretary of the change.
· When dates are offered, the opponent must confirm these within 72 hours, and any arrangements confirmed must be adhered to.
· If the opponent has previously arranged to play a National competition, or another County competition, on either of the two dates offered, the challenger must offer another date.
· National and County team competitions take precedence over individual competitions and the dates of these should be avoided.
· Competitors may not be asked to start a game before 10.00 am or after 6.15pm unless by mutual agreement. Every player pays her own expenses, entry, travel and green fees.
· The winner shall inform the CCS of the result by email within 24 hours of the game, attaching a copy of both scorecards.
· The failure of a player or players to appear after a maximum waiting period of 30 minutes from the time fixed for the start of the game shall cause the player(s) to forfeit the game.
· Sector Finals shall be arranged by the Sector Organiser on a neutral green and appoint an Umpire/Competent person for each final. All Sector Final games shall be played in full, with two trial ends permitted, and an extra end played if scores are tied. Sector Finals shall be completed by the date decided by the CCS.
· The Sector Organiser shall send the results of each Sector Final to the CCS by email with the name, telephone number and email address of the winner and a copy of the Final Scorecard.
· Each Sector Final must be completed by the date decided by the CCS.

2 COUNTY SEMI-FINALS AND FINALS
All Finals should be played on the President’s green, except the Semi-Final and Final
of the County Top Club, which will be played at Honiton Bowling Club. If the President’s green is not available then the CCS will arrange the Semi-Finals at another green
3. RULES FOR ALL ROUNDS
a. As players taking part in the first game constitute ‘the team’, players committing themselves to these competitions by taking part in the first game MUST be prepared
to honour all ties up to and including the County Semi-Finals and Finals. If any player knows that this is not possible, then she must withdraw at the outset, before the first game, and offer the opportunity to compete to another player in her club who is not already committed to that competition.
When a team’s circumstances change, one and the same substitute may be used, in accordance with Rule 4c.
b. Names of the players taking part in the first game, i.e. ‘the team’, shall be written in full on the score cards for the attention of the CCS. In every case ‘the team’ must include at least one player from the original team registered.
c. One additional and the same player may be used as substitute at any time, provided that she has not already played in the competition concerned. If the substitute is required for more than one round of the competition, then the substitute shall remain
in ‘the team’. If the substitute is required prior to the start of the game, she may play in any position; if during the game, she may play in any position except skip.
5. UMPIRE
An umpire or competent, experienced person shall be in attendance at all Sector Finals, and at the County Semi-Finals and Finals.
6. HOSPITALITY
The challengers shall offer hospitality. If this is not required, the opponents must inform the challengers at the time the game is arranged. Please note that players from clubs operating with a catering franchise system cannot offer hospitality free of charge. ??????
